Course Overview

This Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Health and Social Care qualification, helps students to achieve their potential and progress to the next stage of their lives, whether that’s higher education, an apprenticeship or employment.

Universities, employers and industry specialists have been consulted to make sure you will gain the right combination of knowledge, understanding and skills required for the 21st century.

An extensive range of centre assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities, as well as examined units on: Equality, diversity and rights; Health, safety and security; Anatomy and physiology; Personalisation and person centered approach; Safeguarding and Research methods, has resulted in focused qualification.

Qualification Gained

Cambridge Technical OCR Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (2016).

After The Course

You may wish to go onto an Apprenticeship, Higher Apprenticeship, Higher Education or into the workplace.

What Will I Learn

You will learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be succesful in the Health and Social Care sector. Your studies will range from; Equality, diversity and rights; Health, safety and security; Anatomy and physiology; Personalisation and person centered approach; Safeguarding and Research methods.

English And Maths

Contextualised Maths and English will support you with the technical terms used in the sector.

Our lecturers are highly experienced and passionate about young people joining the Health and Social care sector at all levels. They will monitor and supoport your progress to ensure you are successful and have all the required skills to progress to the next stage in your career.

Teaching Learning and Assessment

An extensive range of centre assessed units with practical and wider project-based assessment opportunities, as well as examined units over the course of the 2-year programme.

Tutorials

During your programme you will have two tutorials:

Academic – focused on your own progress, setting SMART targets and ensuring you are achieving well.

Group – You will be exploring your wider skills and education for life.

Course Expenses

£90.00

These costs are part of supporting you on your course for textbooks, trip and food hygiene for work-based experiences. We will support your DBS application to ensure you have all the required elements to complete the course which includes work-based activities in the sector.

How Will I Be Assessed

You will be assessed through a mixture of internal assessments such as assignments through essays, presentations, and professional discussions.

6 of the units covered will be assessed externally through an external assessment, some of which are assessment papers, whilst others are part of a research project in supervised conditions.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSE’s 9-4 including English, Maths, Science.

Previous Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social care.

Placement experience (through work experience).

Required Experience

No previous experience, however a keen interest and passion for working in Health and Social care. Learners progressing from level 2 Health and Social care courses may wish to consider enrolling on this course.
