Course Overview
This is a full time course for learners who are not sure of their next
step in education or who need to improve their confidence, Maths and English
grades before moving across college onto their chosen vocational area. Learners
will have the opportunity to investigate different career paths and experience
tasters in a range of chosen vocational areas such as Construction, Motor
Vehicle, Art and Catering. There are two pathways groups, one mainly focused on
those who have struggled to be at school, have been home tutored or found
learning difficult and as a result not achieved what they hoped to. The other
pathway is for those who have English as a second language and have found the
ability to access education as a result.
Work Experience & Industry Placements
Learners will be encouraged to find voluntary or paid employment on their days off. Learners will also be encouraged to attend taster sessions in vocational areas throughout the year.

NOCN Qualification in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development
After The Course
You can progress onto a vocational course at Level 1 or Level 2, GCSE course, Supported Internship or paid employment.
What Will I Learn
Units will include a variety of Employability, Training and Personal Development units which all contribute in gaining the skills and attributes required for onward transition to your chosen vocational course or employment.
English And Maths
Functional Skills English and Maths at Entry Level will be timetabled however, you will use these skills all the time and they are crucially important. Studying English and Maths in college is different to school and you will see how these skills are relevant in real life contexts within the units of study.

Teaching Learning and Assessment
You will work through a range of appropriate units with support and guidance. You will receive feedback during and at the end of each unit. A variety of learning strategies to suit all requirements will be used to deliver your lessons to achieve a maximum learning experience.

This is your time and opportunity to review your progress. We will provide appropriate support, set your targets, keep you on track and ensure you achieve the very best outcome for yourself.

Enrolment fee & resource fee is £70 in total.
How Will I Be Assessed
The study programme is assessed through a range of units that you will complete in class time, however assessment in the form of observations, quizzes, feedback and discussion will be a continual process throughout your learning. English and Maths will be achieved by Live Assessment for your final assessment.
Entry Requirements
There are no set entry requirements but learners will be expected to be able to achieve at Entry 3 or above. A keen interest in self-development and a dedicated approach to work are important.
