Course Overview

This course offers an insight into both the early years and health and social care worlds, to help you decide which you would like to specialise in.

You will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s sectors. . The course also covers the roles of professionals working in these sectors, focusing on core topics such as values and principles, health and safety, and working collaboratively with others.

Designed for those considering a career in these fields, this course helps learners build essential knowledge, understanding, and practical skills for employment or further progression. A wide selection of units also allows learners to explore areas of personal interest, while gaining valuable transferable skills.

Work Experience & Industry Placements

To successfully complete the course, all learners are required to undertake a minimum of 35 hours of work placement in a relevant setting. This hands-on experience is essential for developing practical skills and applying knowledge in a real-world environment.

Please note: A valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory and must be completed before the placement begins.

How Will I Be Assessed

Continuous ongoing assessment takes place through the course to develop a portfolio of evidence. Completion of this qualification is achieved through classroom-based learning which will be assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks such as written work, designing posters or leaflets, coursework or methods such as questioning.

Entry Requirements

To enrol on this course, you will need a minimum of three GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including Maths and English.

As this course involves working with children, all students must complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. You will be required to provide valid ID documents—such as a birth certificate or passport—and proof of address. Please ensure you have the necessary documents ready for enrolment. Failure to provide the required documentation will result in exclusion from the course.
